Objective: The Herbal Remedy for Diabetes Mellitus-01(HRDM-01) is composed of 11 species of medicinal plants. HRDM-01 is used as anti-hyperglycaemic agent. Anti-hyperglycaemic agents in western medicine often have hepatotoxicities. Therefore, we investigated safety of HRDM-01, especially in liver functions. Methods: We investigated the effects of HRDM-01 on liver function measuring serum AST, ALT and LDH levels and histopathological changes of liver tissue using photomicroscope. In addition, we also investigated the effects on serum lipid levels such as total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride. Results: In our experiment, single injection of streptozotocin elevated levels of AST and ALT in serum. But LDH level was not affected. In addition, our animal model showed elevated levels of total cholesterol and triglyceride in serum. 30 days treatment with HRDM-01 lowered serum AST level. Serum levels of ALT and LDH did not affected. In addition, HRDM-01 lowered serum triglyceride level significantly. In histopathological observation, we did not find any abnormal changes in all experimental groups. Conclusions: Briefly, HRDM-01 did not elevate serum levels of ALT, LDH, total cholesterol and did not affect histopathological changes in liver tissues. Moreover, HRDM-01 lowered serum AST, triglyceride, which are elevated by induction of diabetes mellitus. These results suggest the safety of HRDM-01 in diabetic treatment.

This study had the goal of designing onboard structures for a pre-pilot mining test (PPMT), which is required for the commercialization of the deep-sea mining industry. This PPMT is planned to validate the performance of a hydraulic lifting system and verify the concept of operating through a moon-pool in the east sea, Korea. All of the onboard equipment and facility were designed by KRISO. Because the test was performed at the first development, it is difficult to determine what risk will occur in the facility. Therefore, risk-based design is required in the facility for the PPMT, which includes the facility layout, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and risk reduction plan. All of the expected performances of the lifting system itself and the onboard facilities were qualitatively validated using the risk-based design.

최근 산업 현장에서 많은 안전사고가 일어나고 있고, 현장 노동력의 부족으로 무인 로봇 시스템들을 도입하는 등 다양한 변화를 맞이하고 있다. 이에 차세대 자동화 시스템은 보다 유연하고 지능적이어야 한다. AGV(Automatic Guided Vehicle)의 경우 실시간으로 변하는 현장에 대응하기 어렵고, 새로운 어플리케이션에 대한 제품개발의 어려움이 따른다. 이에 대한 대안으로 AGV 인식 스택을 재구축하여 인간과 동일한 공간인식 능력을 갖춘 AMR(Autonomous Mobile Robot)이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 SLAM과 ROS를 이용하여 AMR의 기능을 구축하였다. YD Lidar 센서와 SLAM을 이용하여 주변 환경을 지도화 하여 로봇의 현재 위치를 파악할 수 있도록 제작하였고, 직접 지도상의 최적 경로를 파악하여 주변 장애물을 회피하며 주행할 수 있음을 확인하였다. DC 모터의 응답 특성에 따라 주행 속도, 조향각 등을 제어할 수 있도록 구현하였다.

The major objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the shear strengthening effect of carbon fiber sheets upon reinforced concrete deep beam and shear failure behavior variation of reinforced concrete deep beam strengthened by carbon fiber sheets. Tests are earned out with 6 specimens were shear failure at first loading tests, and with parameters including the types of shear strengthening of carbon fiber sheets (I type, S type, U type), and plies of sheets (2 ply and 1 ply). From the results of test, analyzed load-deflection of midspan, strain variation of main bars and transverse reinforcement, maximum load capacity of strengthened specimens, and compared with the previous test results.
8주간 유산소 훈련에 따른 여자대학생의 항산화능 및 임파구 DNA 손상 변화

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of endurance exercise training on antioxidant capacity and lymphocyte DNA damages caused by cardiorespiratory endurance and 85%V·O2max all-out exercise by conducting an 8 weeks endurance exercise training for 19 healthy female undergraduates. To achieve the purpose of this study, treadmill running was conducted at the intensity of 70%HRR for 8 weeks. Before and after the training, 85%V·O2max all-out exercise test was conducted. At the 85%V·O2max all-out exercise test, blood samples were taken 5 times respectively before and after the training. With the samples, serum lactate, plasma SOD, and lymphocyte DNA damages were analyzed. The results of the study showed that V·O2max and exercise duration increased significantly(p<.05) after the 8 weeks endurance exercise training. It was also showed that serum lactate caused by high intensity acute exercise decreased significantly at each time of blood taking after the endurance exercise training(p<.05). There were significant differences in the activity of plasma SOD and lymphocyte DNA damages after the endurance exercise training(p<.05). It was also found that there are significant correlations between the changes of V·O2max caused by the 8 weeks endurance exercise training and the changes of plasma SOD, %DNA in the tail and tail moment. Conclusively, 8 weeks regular endurance exercise training can decrease DNA damages by increasing cardiorespiratory endurance and the activity of anti-oxidant and relieving oxidative stress.

목적: 저자들은 식도 점막하종양을 수술로 치료한 예를 분석 하고 과거 보고와 비교하여 국내에서의 식도 점막하종양의 특 성을 파악하고 이를 통해 향후 방침을 세우는 데 참고하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2005년부터 2012년까지 서울특별시보라매병 원과 분당서울대학교병원에서 식도 점막하종양을 진단받고 수술을 시행받은 18예를 후향적으로 분석하였다. 결과: 환자의 평균 연령은 48.9세였고, 남녀 비는 2.6:1였고, 대부분 무증상(77.8%)이었다. 대부분은 중부(55.6%)와 하부 식도(44.4%)에 위치하였고, 크기는 3-5 cm (55.6%)과 3 cm 이하(33.3%)인 경우가 많았다. 내시경초음파에서 병변은 대 부분 네번째 층(83.3%)에 존재하였고, 저에코 (72.2%)로 관찰 된 경우가 많았으며, 고에코 (11.1%) 또는 혼재된 에코(11.1%) 로 관찰된 경우도 있었다. 평활근종으로 진단한 경우가 가장 많았고(55.6%), 수술을 시행한 이유는 악성이 의심되거나 (38.9%) 병변의 크기가 큰 경우(33.3%) 및 크기 증가(11.1%) 등이었다. 수술은 대부분 흉강경을 이용한 적출술(83.3%)을 시행하였고, 병변의 평균 크기는 5.4 cm였으며, 6-10 cm 사 이인 경우(38.9%)가 가장 많았고, 3-5 cm 사이인 경우 (33.3%)가 그 다음으로 많았다. 최종 진단은 평활근종이 대부 분이었고(88.9%), 나머지는 위장관 기질종양(11.1%)이 차지 하였다. 결론: 식도 점막하종양은 평활근종이 가장 흔하였으나, 내시 경초음파로 위장관 기질종양과의 감별이 매우 어려웠다. 악성 이 의심되거나 증상을 동반하는 경우에는 흉강경을 이용한 최 소 침습 수술이 치료에 적절할 것으로 판단된다. Background/Aims: Submucosal tumors of the esophagus are rare lesions among all esophageal neoplasms. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathologic features of esophageal submucosal tumors treated by surgical approach. Methods: We analyzed the clinicopathologic and endoscopic ultrasonographic features of 18 esophageal submucosal tumors which were treated by surgical approach at Boramae Medical Center and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital from January 2005 to June 2012. Results: The mean age was 48.9 years old and male to female ratio was 2.6:1. Asymptomatic patients were most common (77.8%). In endoscopic ultrasonographic finding, the majority tumor arouse in the middle (55.6%) and lower (44.4%) esophagus, and appeared as hypoechoic lesion (72.2%) in the 4th layer (83.3%). The most common indication for surgical approach was unclear biological behavior of the tumor. Minimally-invasive technique using thoracoscopy was applied for the enucleation (83.3%). The mean diameter of the tumor was 5.4 cm, and the final diagnosis was leiomyoma (89.9%) and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (11.1%). Conclusions: Leiomyoma was the most common submucosal tumor in esophagus. However, endoscopic ultrasonography was not able to differentiate between leiomyoma and gastrointesinal stromal tumor. For more accurate diagnosis and treatment, minimally-invasive approaches may be suitable for the surgical enucleation of indicated esophageal submucosal tumor.
