To evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of propolis, streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats were divided into 4 groups such as, diabetic control group, low dose of propolis (0.1 ml) group, medium dose of propolis (0.3 ml) group and high dose of propolis (0.9 ml) group and feeded with propolis extracts for 30 days. After experiment, oral glucose tolerance test (Oral GTT) was carried, and 16 hours fasting blood sugar levels, body weights, blood lipid levels were measured. Finally, pancreatic histopathological study was performed. In conclusion, the propolis is effective to the treatment diabetes due to the reduction of the blood sugar level and the regeneration of the damaged $\beta$-cells shown in streptozotocininduced diabetic rats.

To evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of nano powder propolis, streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats were divided into 2 groups : diabetic control group and nano powder propolis (0.9ml) group. Then the rats were fed with nano-powder-propolis for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, oral glucose tolerance test (oral GTT) was performed and blood sugar levels after 16 hours fasting, body weights, and blood lipid levels were measured. Finally, pancreas were collected and examined by histopathology and immunohistochemistry. In conclusion, the nano-powder-propolis was effective in the treatment of diabetes due to the reduction of blood sugar level and the regeneration of damaged β-cells observed in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

In order to survey the prevalence of Toxocara canis in soil of playground in a detached dwelling area, 150 samples were taken from playground 50 unit. The survey was carried out during 3 months from July to September in 2006. The Egg of Toxocara canis were detected in 6 samples(4.0%) from 150 cases of playground. The prevalence of T canis by month was 6.0% in July, 4.0% in August, 2.0% in September, respectively. This study results suggested that the prevalence of T canis were decreased in 2006 compared to 18.5% (30 positive/162 samples) in 2000.

This study was designed to evaluate the beekeeper`s consciousness for diagnosis and treatment on a disease of honey-bee in Daejeon and Jeollanamdo in Korea. The questionnaire consisted of 14 questions. Of 231 randomly selected respondents between February and May 2010, 47.6% was consult a ``club (colleague)``, 89.2% treated a ``doctoring oneself``, 84.4% was recognize a bee as ``domestic animal``, 77.5% was not recognize a veterinarian as field of treatment, 38.5% was acquire know-how by a beekeeper. Therefore these results suggest that the beekeepers are relying a lot on individuals experience for the diagnosis and treatment on the disease of honey-bee, the apiculture techniques was gained much by oneself. Korean beekeeping association was played a role as well, but related-university, agriculture research & extension services and veterinary service laboratory was not played a role in the country.

In order to survey the prevalence of parasites in soil from playground in a detached dwelling area, 162 samples were taken from playground 54 unit. The survey was carried out during 3 months from July in 2000 to september in 2000. The results were obtained as follows: 1. Eggs of Toxocara canis were detected in 30 samples (18.5%) from 162 cases of playground. 2. The 3 kinds of eggs were isolated from the soil of playground. Those were Strongyloides spp 23.5%, Toxocara canis 18.5% and Trichuris vulpis 4.3%. 3. It was mixed infestation such as single (74.5%), double (23.7%) and triple(1.6%).

In order to survey the prevalence of parasites in soil from playground in a housing development testate, 368 samples were taken from playground 184 unit. The survey was carried out during 2 months from september in 1999 to October in 1999. The results were obtained as follows; 1. Eggs of toxocara canis were detected in 25 samples (6.8%) from 368 cases of playground. 2. The 3 kinds of eggs were isolated from the soil of playground. Those were strongyloides spp 13.9%, toxocara canis 6.8% and toxascaris leonina 2.4%. 3. It was mixed infestation such as single (80.0%) and double (20.0%).

In order to investigate the seroprevalence of Salmonella Pullorum in boilers reared in Daejeon area, 509 samples were collected from 10 boiler farms randomly selected from 38. The survey was carried out during 6 months from April to October in 2007. Out of 509 chickens, 35 (6.9%) were seropositive and average titer was 24.8. The seroprevalence by district was 5.5% (5/90) in Dong-gu, 4.1% (4/96) in Seo-gu, 7.9% (24/303) in Yuseong-gu, 10.0% (2/20) in Daedeok-gu.

A total of 1,024 sera were collected from cattle(227), pigs(465), chickens(257) and dogs(75) raised or slaughtered in Daejeon metropolitan city from April to September 2002. Japanese enceplvlitis virus(JEV) antibodies in sera were detected by the haemagglutination inhibition test. The prevalence rates of JEV antibodies were 99.1%, 54.0%, 63.0% and 98.7% in cattle, pigs, chickens and dogs, respectively. In case of cattle and dogs, the monthly antibody-positive rates were as high as 85.7-100.0% and there were no differences among six months. In case of pigs, the monthly antibody-positive rate showed the lowest in April(6.4%) and the highest in July(100.0%) and it remained above 50% during the summer-time. In case of chickens, the monthly antibody-positive rate was 100.0% in July & August, 80.5% in June, 40.0% in May, 7.5% in September and 5.0% in April in order and there were distinct differences in seasons.
