In the last few years, the regulations for efficiency grade of the three phase induction motor are internationally being discussed and upgraded for the protection of environment and energy saving. So the efficiency improvement and the reliable test result are essential to determine the premium grade three phase induction motor. While a study on developing the efficiency motor is active, there is little research about the guarantee for efficiency. So in this paper, the dispersion characteristic of the efficiency is studied using uncertainty theory for the three phase induction motor to improve the reliability of efficiency. The values such as input voltage, current, speed, torque were obtained by loss separation method to evaluate the uncertainty. From the result, it was known that the important loss factor could affect the uncertainty is the stray loss.

Electric motor systems account for more than half of all electric systems and the amount of energy consumption of those is almost 70 percent of total energy consumption of electric motor systems in industry. As electric motor systems are very responsible for global electricity savings and environment protection. Many international organizations are supporting standards and policy development processes to improve the efficiency of electric motor systems. Many standards are being developed at technical committee of IEC that has been required in order to support the implementation of efficiency regulations. High efficiency standards and levels for electric motor systems are slowly being introduced and compulsory in many countries. Therefore understanding the international efficiency evaluation standards and the regulation of electric motor systems of each country is important. This paper presents the current status and trends of international evaluation standards and regulations about the efficiency of electric motor systems.

This paper presented an evaluation method for the efficiency uncertainty of an inverter-fed three-phase induction motor using FEM. The motor efficiency in the FEM is calculated by the IEC 60034-2-3 as in the actual test. In the process of evaluating the efficiency uncertainty, the difference between the finite element method and the actual test is the method of calculating the type-A / B standard uncertainty of the input quantity to estimate the efficiency and each losses. For the input quantities which can confirm the instantaneous values with respect to time, the type-A standard uncertainty in the FEM is calculated from the RMS values or average values having separate periods in the steady state. And, the type-B standard uncertainty in the finite element method is assumed to be zero. Also, this paper compared and analyzed the efficiency uncertainty evaluated by the proposed method and the efficiency uncertainty through the actual test.

Electric motors and drives consume the largest amount of electricity more than 40% of global electricity consumption. In addition, motors, drives and its components are included in the global high-trade products and the main driving source for industrial equipment and house appliances. Thus, International standards and regulations for their safety and efficiency are internationally being discussed and created for the protection of its citizens and energy saving. So, understanding the international standards and the regulation of each country is essential to enhance overseas market and to develop product. In this paper, on the basis of this background, status and trends of international standards and regulations are introduced for safety and efficiency of motors and the drives. Safety and efficiency of the IEC (International Electrotechical Commission) standards are introduced in the emphasis. Also, regulations are studied about the differences and trends in each county.
