영상의 제작에서 촬영과 편집으로 이야기의 전달이 이루어지고 있다. 영상의 가장 기본단위인 쇼트는 다양한 크기를 가지고 있다. 영상에서 크기에 따른 화면의 변화를 만들어 주는 것이 편집이며, 편집에서 다양한 표현을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 쇼트의 분류와 종류를 통해 연결과 충돌의 의미를 알아보고자 한다. 이를 통하여 TV버라이어티 프로그램에서 사용되는 편집의 단위에 컬러를 지정하였다. 편집의 기본단위인 쇼트에 컬러를 적용함에 따라 장수프로그램인 MBC의 ``놀러와`` KBS의 개그콘서트안의 ``달인`` 코너에 적용하여 편집의 변화가 시기적으로 어떠한 변화가 있는지 알아보았다. 본 연구를 통해 ``달인``과 ``놀러와``의 편집패턴의 변화를 알 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 편집의 변화와 미래를 예측 할 수 있다.
