중년남성의 운동참여 형태에 따른 신체상과 생활만족도 비교

The purpose of this study is to examine the difference in body shape and life satisfaction according to the period, time, and frequency of exercising as well as the types of exercise (marathon, swimming, weight training) of middle aged males. In order to accomplish the purpose, the body shape was divided into 3 parts of appearance, agreeableness, and external form while the life satisfaction was divided into 3 parts of mental, physical, and social. The middle aged males in their 40 to 59 who have participated in D Marathon and are participating in exercises such as swimming and weight training in sports centers located in D metropolitan city were selected as population of the study. Total 509 were decided to be the number of valid samples. Among the 509, 152 were participating in marathon, 179 in swimming, and 178 in weight training. Overall, the physical satisfaction was higher in the marathon. However, the life satisfaction was the highest for swimming. In order to increase the physical satisfaction in the future, participating in the marathon is recommended while to increase life satisfaction, participating in swimming is recommended. In the validation of difference from the pre-time within the group, the swimming showed no significant difference in the participation period, time, and frequency. However, the marathon and the weight training can increase the body shape and life satisfaction by participating in them for more than 2 years, more than 60 minutes each time, and 3-4 times a week.

The purpose of this study is on the comparison of the body image and self-esteem by participants of masters swimming and ordinary swimming. Taking part in a professional swimming is rather constant and competitive than the general swimming contest so that masters swimming participating would help to get the body image and self-esteem and offer proper data for participants for various swimming programs. Conclusion from the finding of this study is that masters swimming participants regularly take part in sports that can be the best way to enhance physical shape and self-esteem and enjoy sports of professional experience in a new point of view.
