치과 주조용 Ag-Pd 계 합금의 미세조직에 미치는 S 와 Ir 의 영향

The effects of S and Ir on the microstructures of binary Ag-25%Pd alloy and a commercial alloy, A-2 (Ag-25 wt%Pd-2 wt%Au-2 wt%In-0.84 wt%Zn-0.5 wt%Ir) were studied. The segregation tendency of S in the grain boundary was investigated by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) with varying S concentrations. The effect of the cooling rate on the microstructures and segregation was also investigated. The compositions of several positions on the fractured surface were measured by EDS analysis. The grain refining effect of Ir was obvious when the concentration of Ir was more than 0.1%. At S-concentrations above 0.1%, Ag₂Pd₃S phase was observed at the dendrite and grain boundary due to S-segregation during solidification. This phase did not appear at 0.01% S, but the S-concentration at the grain boundary was much higher than the bulk concentration, showing S-segregation to the grain boundary. The degree of S-segregation to the grain boundary decreased slightly with grain refining. The segregation of In and Zn in A-2 alloy containing high S concentration did not occur while it occurred in the alloy with low S concentration.

The aim of this study was to systematically review the latest clinical trials in music medicine and medical music therapy for pediatric patients. Thirteen databases were searched to obtain randomized controlled/crossover design studies published between the year 2000 and 2012 in English language. Out of 1012 articles retrieved in the initial search, fifteen studies were identified based on an exclusion criteria. Overall, selected articles involved children 1 month to 18 years, sample size of 11 to 150, and total participants of 987. Studies were classified and compared as music medicine or music therapy studies through a systematic synthesis assessing general characteristics, methodological quality, measured outcomes, types of interventions and the study results. Seven music medicine and eight music therapy studies measured seven dependent variables using thirty-six different measurement tools with a large heterogeneity in the selection, type, and method of music interventions. Evaluation of the methodological quality revealed that many studies did not provide a full report of the research method, and did not meet some or most methodological standards, such as randomization, allocation concealment, double or partial blinding, and intention to treat analysis. Although overall research results were positive if not significant, poor methodological quality and heterogeneity in design and intervention strategies raise the question of research bias and trustworthiness issues. The systematic review concluded that music may have a valuable clinical effect in addressing the physical and psychosocial needs of hospitalized children, although more rigorous, homogeneous and replicable studies are greatly needed.

This study explored the effect of a lexical inferencing task on low-proficiency Korean EFL learners’ vocabulary acquisition from watching a movie. A total of 63 Korean freshman students enrolled in three different sessions of a compulsory English course for low proficiency level students participated in the two-week-long study. Each session was randomly designated as a viewing group, an instruction group, and an inference group. After watching an English movie, the participants’ gain in their lexical knowledge for twenty target vocabulary items from the movie was assessed. While the viewing group received no other treatment, the instruction group was explicitly taught the target vocabulary and the inference group completed a lexical inferencing task for the target words prior to watching the movie. In the posttest, the participants in all three groups showed a significant gain in their lexical knowledge, with the greatest improvement demonstrated by the inference group. The viewing group and the instruction group did not show any significant difference in their lexical development. Based on the results, this study suggests that i) movies are useful resources for L2 vocabulary learning and ii) a lexical inferencing task is a valuable supplement for foreign language classrooms employing movies in the curriculum.
