Analysis of lunar samples returned by the US Apollo missions revealed that the lunar highlands consist of anorthosite, plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine; also, the lunar maria are composed of materials such as basalt and ilmenite. More recently, the remote sensing approach has enabled reduction of the time required to investigate the entire lunar surface, compared to the approach of returning samples. Moreover, remote sensing has also made it possible to determine the existence of specific minerals and to examine wide areas. In this paper, an investigation was performed on the reflectance distribution and its trend. The results were applied to the example of the double ray stretched in parallel lines from the Tycho crater to the third-quadrant of Mare Nubium. Basic research and background information for the investigation of lunar surface characteristics is also presented. For this research, resources aboard the SELenological and ENgineering Explorer (SELENE), a Japanese lunar probe, were used. These included the Multiband Imager (MI) in the Lunar Imager / Spectrometer (LISM). The data of these instruments were edited through the toolkit, an image editing and analysis tool, Exelis Visual Information Solution (ENVI).

A method for measuring the accuracy of rotating objects was studied. Rotating axis errors are significant; such as the spindle error of a manufacturing machine which results in the surface roughness of machined work pieces. Three capacitance type displacement sensors were used to measure the rotating master ball position. The sensors were mounted to the three orthogonal points on the spindle axis. The measurement data were analyzed and shown for rotating spindle accuracy, not only for average roundness error but also for spindle volumetric positional error during the revolutions. This method is simple and economical for industrial field use with regular inspection of rotating machines using portable equipment. Measuring and analyzing time using this method takes only a couple of hours. This method can also measure microscopic amplitude and 3-dimensional direction of vibrating objects.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the determining factors of foreign directinvestment(FDI) of Korea by using institutioanl theory. In addition, this study dividesinstitutional facts into the formal and the informal institutions. The empirical test implements multiful regression analysis focuing on korean electronics andautomotive industry. The dependent variables are FDI outflow and the independent ones arecorruption, econimic freedom, political risk, human development, and culturan distance. According to the empirical results, corruptin and human development have positive effects onKorean FDI outflow. On the other hand, political risks and economic freedom have negativeeffects on Korean FDI outflow. This results indicate the importance of forman and informalinstitutional facotrs as determinants of Korean FDI outflow

Licensing contracts between partners in International Joint Ventures(IJV) have not only aspects of relation contract, which is interdependent and long-term cooperative relationships in interpartner but also aspects of discrete contract which is exposed to opportunistic risk caused by IJV partners who maximize individual profit instead of joint payoff maximization. In this circumstance, appropriate compensation structures such as lump-sum and royalty can reduce conflicts and spur interpartner cooperation. In addition, compensation structures that stipulate each party`s rights, duties, and responsibilities under various sets of environmental conditions have strong implications for transaction cost minimization and joint payoff maximization. On the other hands, compensation structures such as lump-sum and royalty in IJV licensing contract have benefits and costs depending on IJV partners uncertainty, partner dependency, and environment uncertainty. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to empirically show how partner uncertainty, partner dependence and environment uncertainty influence compensation structure chosen by licensor in IJV.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), a malignant tumor derived from the intrahepatic bile duct epithelium,has a poor prognosis and is refractory to conventional chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Thus,there is an urgent need to develop new effective therapeutic strategies for this disease. We previously found that L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) plays an important role in tumor progression of ICC, and we generated a murine mAb, A10-A3 (IgG1), that binds to the Ig1 domain of L1CAM. In the present study, we further characterized A10-A3, constructed a chimeric A10-A3antibody (cA10-A3) containing the constant regions of human IgG1, and evaluated the therapeutic potential in a human ICC xenograft nude mice model. The affinities (KD) of A10-A3 and cA10-A3 for soluble L1CAM were 1.8 nM and 1.9 nM, respectively, as determined by competition ELISA. A10-A3 inhibited L1CAM homophilic binding and was slowly internalized into the tumor cells, but it did not significantly inhibit proliferation of ICC cells in vitro. cA10-A3 mediated antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity in vitro and displayed anti-tumor activity in the ICC animal model. These results suggest that the humanized A10-A3 antibody may have potential as an anticancer agent for the treatment of ICC.
