니트와 직조의 전통 기법과 첨단 텍스타일 기법의 융합

        이애자 한국니트디자인학회 2014 패션과 니트 Vol.12 No.2

To enhance both artistic effects and industrial efficiency of modern textile design, we need a comprehensive understanding on weaving and knitting traditions from the ancient times around the globe, as well as insight on trends in contemporary textile design. In this study I explore the possibility of enhancing artistic effect and industrial efficiency of knit and woven textiles by combining contemporary cutting edge techniques with traditional ones. Computer graphic programs specified for textile design were used in transforming hand-knit and hand-woven images into ones for industrial mass production. Various ways were also explored to enhance quality of designs in the entire process of making various textile works. These experiments shows us the reason why contemporary industrial textile design is trying to, and should try to seek for the ways to compromise traditions and technologies

텍스타일 디자인의 심미적 측면과 니트의 표면구성 기법

        이애자 한국니트디자인학회 2018 패션과 니트 Vol.16 No.1

My intention in this paper is to try and verify some practical ways to enhance artistic appeal of modern knit textile design. Theoretical background of experimental works presented here is a comprehensive understanding of historical development of modern design theories, various views on arts, crafts, designs, as well as aesthetical qualities of forms, functions, and constructions. To achieve this goal with a keen eye to modern theories of design, I tried various experiments on possible combinations of materials and knitting techniques that would maximize visual effects of textile design, such as textural effects of surface transparency and three dimensional effect. Using manual knitting machines to compromise artistic intentions with knitting techniques and material combination, some experimental design works for this purpose were successfully undertaken. I hope these experimental works will somehow contribute to diversifying paths to more advanced knit designs that can appeal to modern sense of design.

니트 기법의 색채 표현에 관한 연구 - 카드펀칭 기법의 텍스타일 작품 제작을 중심으로 -

        이애자 한국니트디자인학회 2015 패션과 니트 Vol.13 No.2

Hi-tech knitting machines of our age has enabled textile designers to apply more various colors and patterns to their works. In this paper, I summarize the process and products of my experiment to make knit textiles for fashion and interior designers, by combining hi-tech machines with traditional knitting techniques. Starting from survey on preceding studies and related literatures, I tried to test various effects of color combinations applicable to knit design, making sample designs from draft designs. In the whole process, I tested whether effective aesthetic expression could be possible by card punching hand knitting. The process of design are as follows. 1) photo images, drawings, fiber structures were transformed into basic motifs 2) color planning 2) making draft designs for card punching 4) making cards for hand knitting 5) yarn colors mixing 5) making knitting process. With the final product of this research as well as draft designs available from applying 2D and 3D graphic simulation, I could suggest a tentative design process to enhance aesthetic appeals of knit textile design.

      • 다종광 컴퓨터 직기를 사용한 직물디자인 연구

이애자 진주산업대학교 1997 論文集 Vol.36 No.-

In this paper I summarize textile design techniques using a computer-aided multi-harness loom and computer weaving softwares. For this purpose I especially focus on two realms. One of them is of yarn dyeing techniques, such as ikat, block printing, and screen printing. The other focus is on the various structures of weaving textures, such as twill, satin, shadow weave, lampas and stitched double weave. These techniques have largely been used by traditional fabric craftsmen and artists. But in these days the fabric industry, especially 'high quality-small quantity oriented' textile studios also have been using these techniques. The most important factor in textile design is 'weave structure', which decisively influences the color and texture in a given pattern design. So, the use of computer weaving softwares and a compy loom enormously saves time and effort for artists and professional designers. And it enables us to enhance the efficacy and imaginative power for experimental pattern design, especially for jacquard design. In short, though textile design, either for industrial use or artistic expression, should ultimately be based on aesthetic conception, professional textile designers can benefit by using thase textil CAD techniques developed by fabric industries and crafthouses.
