This study is focused on the protection effects of geosynthetics installed on HDPE water barrier in waste landfill to resist against puncture loads. It was conducted by a model test with various types of puncture loads created by different shapes of tools. The puncture resistance of geosynthetics installed as a protective material on HDPE (High density polyethylene) water barrier is varied with the sizes of geosynthetics and types of puncture loads. Finally, it was found that the protection effect for all kinds of geosynthetics when a truncated cylindrical shape of puncture tool is used is lower than others. Also, geocomposite as is the most effective against puncture for all types of puncture loads.
지오신세틱스의 천공(꿰뚫림) 저항성에 관한 연구 : 재료별 천공하중-변형관계

여러 가지 형식의 지오신세틱스가 개발되고 있는데, 설계 수명에 대한 신뢰성, 화학적 생물학적 내구성, 그리고 천공(꿰뚫림)에 대한 저항성 등에 대한 문제가 있는데도 불구하고 이들의 적용 분야는 증가 추세에 있다. 토공구조물이나 차수구조물에서 천공(꿰뚫림) 저항에 대한 문제는 해결되어야 할 중요한 문제로 드러나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 차수구조에 사용되는 여러 가지의 지오신세틱스의 천공(꿰뚫림) 저항성에 대하여 모형실험을 통하여 비교 분석하였다. 지오신세틱스에 천공(꿰뚫림)을 발생시키는 기구로서 두 가지 형식의 기구와 강자갈 그리고 쇄석을 사용하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 천공기구의 형태는 재료의 천공(꿰뚫림)저항성에 큰 영향을 끼치고, 천공(꿰뚫림)강도의 크기는 천공(필뚫림) 발생기구의 형태와 재료에 따라 불규칙적인 것으로 나타났다. Various types of geosynthetics have been manufactured and their applications are rapidly extended disregarding unreliable lifetime, chemical and biological persistence and puncture resistance. Puncture resistance of geosynthetics in earth structures and liner systems has been a critical issue to be improved. In this paper, comparative studies were made on a puncture resistance of various geosynthetics that were used to a liner system. Two types of puncture tools and rubles and gravels were used to generate punctures on geosynthetics. From the results it is shown that types of puncture tools affect puncture resistance of materials significantly and puncture forces were irregular depending upon puncture tools and materials.

This study presents the physical and mechanical characteristics of dredged clays from Jin-Hae costar area. Dredged clays generally used as a land reclamation materials for land use in the shoreline. Experimental studied were performed on the samples directly obtained from the field. The results of direct shear test, unconfined test and consolidation test were presented for variable water contents. From the study, it is indicated that the strength of soil is decreased as increase of water contents, and the strength is increased as time passing.
Drosophila 의 초기 발생에 요구되는 Raf Serine/Threonine Kinase

Raf kinase is one of pivotal components in various receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) - mediated signal transduction pathways. Our study has focused on the function of Drosophila-raf (D-raf) serine/threonine kinase in the Torso (Tor) RTK required for specification of cell fates at the embryonic poles. Using mutant embryos taking endogenous D-raf protein, we found that serine/threonine kinase activity of D-raf is required for Tor signal transduction and that human Raf-1 can substitute D-raf in this pathway. Also, we show that the N-terminal deletion of D-raf can transmit the Torso signal.
