Because Impinging jet has excellent heat & mass transfer characteristics. it has many advantages of cooling. drying. etc and widely applied at industrial fields. Therefore, there have been many experimental investigations and theoretical studies about Impinging jet. The present study is about a cooling characteristic by Impinging jet for a Square Plate on Duct and investigated this characteristic through three-dimensions numerical analysis, using FLUENT. As the result of this study, heat transfer effect is the most appropriate condition when the ratio of distance is 6 between nozzle exit diameter and heat source. diameter of duct is 90mm and height of duct is 60mm. In addition. under the influence of injected jet. stagnant fluid flow into free jet field and this affected the whole flow field. So the shape of duct is a important factor and the researcher confirmed the need of investigation about duct.
HSP27 MODULATION OF IMPLANT- ASSOCIATED METAL ION CYTOTOXICITY OF OSTEOBLASTIC CELLS

Objectives: The extent of bone formation that occurs at the interface of metallic implants and bone is determined by the number and activity of osteoblastic cells. Stress proteins may be contributing determinants of cell viability in altered environments. Hsp27 is a small Mr hsp which is known as a molecular chaperone. Methods: To better understand how heat shock protein 27 contributes to endosseous implant - associated metal ions affects on osteoblastic cell viability, the effect of chromium and titanium ions were compared to effects of cadmium ions in the ROS17/2.8 osteoblastic cell line. Results: ROS17/2.8 osteoblastic cell line demonstrated ion - specific reductions in growth; reductions were significantly greater for cadmium than for chromium or titanium. Chromium impaired growth of cultures without altering cell viability measured using the MTT assay. A stable transformed cell line expressing additional hsp27(clone "A7") was resistant to the toxic effects of titanium and partially protected from cadmium toxicity. Conclusions: A role for hsp27 in protection of osteoblastic cells from metal ion toxicity is supported by the chromium - induced elevations in hsp27 abundance and the behavior of the A7 cell line in response to metal ions in culture. Similar biochemical responses to altered cellular environments may contribute to the fate of tissues adjacent to select metallic implants.

An area of current research is investigating the app1ication of human mesenchymal stem cells or hMSCs as a cell-based regenerative therapy. In order to achieve effective bone regeneration, appropriate matrices functioning as cell-carriers must be identified and optimized in terms of function, efficacy and biocompatibility. Two methods of approaching optimization of matrices are to facilitate adhesion of the donor hMSCs and furthermore to facilitate recruitment of host progenitor cells to osteoblastic differentiation. Pleiotrophin is an extracellular matrix protein that was first identified in developing rat brains and believed to be associated with developing neuronal pathways. A recent publication by Imai and colleagues demonstrated that transgenic mice with upregulated pleiotrophin expression developed a greater volume of cortical as well as cancellous bone. The proposed mechanism of action of pleiotrophin is demonstrated here. Through either environmental stresses and/or intracellular regulation, there is an increase in pleiotrophin production. The pleiotrophin is released extracellularly into areas requiring bone deposition. A receptor-mediated process recruits host osteoprogenitor cells into these areas. Therefore, the aim of our study was to investigate the osteoconductive properties of pleiotrophin. We wanted to determine if pleiotrophin coating facilitates cellular adhesion and furthermore if this has any effect on hMSCs derived bone formation in an animal model. The results showed a dose dependent response of cellular adhesion in fibronectin samples, and cellular adhesion was facilitated with increasing pleiotrophin concentrations. Histologic findings taken after 5 weeks implantation in SCID mouse showed no presence of bone formation with only a dense fibrous connective tissue. Possible explanations for the results of the osteogenesis assay include inappropriate cell loading.
피부 편평상피세포암 및 암전구증에서의 p53 단백질 및 Skin Sulfhydryl Oxidase의 발현

Background: Extensive study of the p53 gene has established its role as a tumor-suppressor gene, and the mutant p53 gene is expressed in a wide spectrum of human malignancy. The conversion of sulfhydryl groups to disulfide bonds in epidermis is carried out by skin sulfhydryl oxidase(SSO) at the junction of the granular layer and horny layers. So it is of interest to investigate the localization and properties of SSO in epidermal keratinocytic neoplasms. Objective: Our purpose is to investigate the expression pattern of the p53 protein and SSO and to gain a better understanding of biologic behavior in epidermal keratinocytic neoplasms. Methods : We investigated the expression pattern of p53 protein and SSO by immunohistochemical method on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimens in 8 cases of squamous cell carcinomas, several cases of recancerosis(1 Bowen's disease, 1 actinic keratosis, 1 arsenic keratosis) and benign keratinizing disorders(1 verruca vulgaris, 1 condyloma accuminatum and 2 cases of lichen planus), Results: 1. Seven out of 8 cases of squamous cell carcinama(88%) and 1 case of 1 Bowen's disease showed p53 protein expression 2. SSO was weakly present in squamous cell carcinoma and precancerosis compared to the normal skin. In the well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma and Bowen's disease, the presence of SSO was rather diffuse than poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma and concentrated in dyskeratotic cells and horn pearls. 3. p53-stained cells or areas were seldom stained with SSO antibody, especially in invading borders of squamous cell carcinomas. Conclusion: Our results suggest that p53 mutation is a common genetic change in epidermal tumorigenesis and it can be useful marker of tumor invasion in the squamous cell carcinoma and precacerosis of skin. Generalized sterile pustular eruptions occur in various dermatoses including pustular psoriasis, erythema multiforme, Sneddon-Wilkinsan disease and others. Recentlr, acute eruptions of disseminated sterile pustules have been reported. The etiology is not related to a gepetic predisposition to psoriasis but to drug ingestion or viral infections, thus termed toxic pustuloderm; (T. P.). In this report, we present a typical case of T. P. observed iu our department. Our patient, an 18-year-old male, with no personal or family history of psoriasis, was given drug medication including amoxicillin for fever and chilling sensation. Pustilar eruptions first, appeared on his face about two days aft.er the medication and gradually spread to the trunk and limbs. The skin examination revealed numerous small pustules on an erythematous base. Laboratory examination revealed neutrophilic leukocytosis and an elevated sedimentation rate skin biopsy showed subeorneal and spongiform neutrophilic pustules Upon interruption of the amoxicillin, the pustules cleared rapidly in 3 days and there has been ri.o recui rence of any rash over a 7-month follow-up period. Kasabach- Merritt syndrame consists of thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, and an acute or chronic censumptive coagulopathy in associati an with a rapidly enlarging hemangioma. Most vascular turrnrs causing Kasabach-Merritt syndon e are benign but the associated coagulopathy may be lifethreatening. Our patient, a 30-day-old female infant, was admitted after an increase in the size of a hemangioma present since birth on the right leg with extension to the lower abdomen and left inguinal area. Her herrnglobin count fell to 7.1g/dl, platelet count was 26,000/ul, prothrombin time was 26 seconds, and hypofibrinogenemia developed. The patient was treated with transfusions of platelets, fresh frozen plasma and red cells and prednisolone. for 2 weeks without improvement. We started interferon alfa-2a therapy. Over the past 6 months, he hemangioma progressively diminished in size withcut any serious complication. (Kor J Dermatol 1995;33(2): 363-368)

Recently oil prices are rising day by day, and the costs of energies are extremely expensive. Because of this situation, in this project, one of the fundamental natural resources, wind power, is taken into account to make a driving force instead of generating the force with petroleum energies. Magnus effect caused by the rotating circular cylinder is applied to design and make a wind propulsion system The principle of Magnus effect is to get a driving force by pressure differences on the surface of rotating circular cylinder in the wind. As the results fluid dynamic force toward low pressure from high pressure is occurred. Through this project we could get more knowledge of fluid dynamics such as Bernoulli equation and the theory of Magnus effect. This knowledge and experience will be pretty useful in a design of devices working with a green energy in future and now.
