This study aimed to identify the effects of squats combined with EMS on dynamic balance and functional ability in females suspected of sarcopenia. It recruited 30 female subjects suspected of sarcopenia. They were randomly divided into an experimental group wearing EMS and a control group without EMS, each with 15 members. Both groups received 30 minutes of intervention programs. Measurements were used before and after the intervention. The dynamic balance ability was measured by the star excursion balance test (SEBT), and the functional ability was measured by the vertical jump test and functional movement screen (FMS). The following statistical analyses were performed: a paired t-test for each group and an independent t-test between two groups. In SEBT, except for the anterior side direction, there were all significant increases between the experimental and control groups (p<.05). While the vertical jump test and FMS did not show significant effects in either group comparison, two tests demonstrated a significant increase in the experimental group before and after the intervention. These results suggest that squats with EMS may be effective for the dynamic balance ability in females suspected of sarcopenia.

The strategy of blending hard and soft magnetic materials to synthesize nanocomposites offers new possibilities for magnetic materials. We focus on synthesizing and optimizing BaFe12O19-CoFe2O4nanocomposites using a co-precipitation method to enhance the magnetic properties through exchange coupling. The synthesis conditions including pH, annealing temperature, and blending ratio were systematically investigated. The precursor synthesized at pH 13 produced uniform precipitates, and upon annealing at 1000 °C, barium hexaferrite (BH) and cobalt ferrite (CF) with hexagonal and spinel structure were each formed. The nanocomposite with a blending ratio of 0.75BH-0.25CF exhibited enhanced saturation magnetization and the highest remanent magnetization compared to the individual components. The crystal structure, morphology, and magnetic properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry.

We report a case of a goblet-cell carcinoid tumor of the appendix which metastasized to the peritoneum and was treated by using cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with intraperitoneal chemotherapy. A 47-year-old male presented with chronic constipation and was diagnosed as having a rectal adenocarcinoma with a signet-ring-cell component under colonoscopy. Computed tomography suggested peritoneal metastases with diffuse nodular parietal peritoneal thickening of the entire abdomen and focal invasion of the upper rectum by a seeding mass. CRS with intraperitoneal chemotherapy was done under the diagnosis of a rectal adenocarcinoma with peritoneal metastases. The pathologic diagnosis was a goblet-cell carcinoid tumor of the appendix with peritoneal metastasis. The histological discrepancy between a peritoneal metastatic mass and a rectal mass was due to the mixed histological pattern of a goblet-cell carcinoid tumor. A metastatic mass may not share identical immunohistochemical characteristics from its origin. This histologic discrepancy necessitates caution in diagnosing a distant metastasis of a goblet-cell carcinoid tumor.
지속 가능한 폐기물 관리 : 우리나라의 호기성 매립공법 적용 가능성

The aerobic landfill method is the only known way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and shorten the aftercare period of closed waste landfills, as demonstrated by various field cases abroad. The increasing problem of anaerobic landfills necessitates the exploration of new landfill management solutions. The success of aerobic landfill projects overseas suggests that aeration may be a viable approach for implementation in Korea but aerobic landfill methods have not been utilized in Korea to date. Therefore, this study aims to review global trends in aerobic landfill technologies, as one of the sustainable landfill methods, and assess their applicability in enhancing landfill stabilization and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Korea. Our study reveals that aerating old landfills could efficiently reduce aftercare costs by 0.8% to 114%. The uncertainties surrounding nitrous oxide emissions and the operational lifespan of the aerobic landfill method persist. Additionally, Korea lacks institutional support for recognizing the greenhouse gas reductions achieved through the aerobic landfill method. However, considering current costs and savings, including installation and operation expenses of the aerobic landfill method, social costs of carbon, and future savings due to a shortened aftercare period, reduced aftercare costs through early stabilization, and increased land use value, the aerobic landfill method emerges as a landfill management technology that can substantially enhance the sustainability of Korea’s waste management practices.

Purpose: Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the most common complications that can occur after stoma closure. Reports have described differences in the incidence of wound infection depending on the skin closure technique, but there is no consensus on the ideal closure technique for a stoma wound. The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of SSI and the patient satisfaction between a circumferential purse-string approximation (CPA) and a primary linear closure (PC) of a stoma wound. Methods: This prospective nonrandomized trial enrolled 48 patients who underwent a stoma closure from February 2010 to October 2013. Patients were divided into two groups according to the stoma closing technique: the CPA group (n = 34) and the PC group (n = 14). The incidences of SSI for the two groups were compared, and the patients’ satisfaction with the stoma closure was determined by using a questionnaire. Results: SSI occurred in 3 of 48 patients (6.3%) and was more frequent in the PC group than in the CPA group (3/14 [21.4%] vs. 0/34 [0%], P = 0.021). Time to complete healing after stoma closure in the CPA group was 32 days (range, 14–61 days). Patients in the CPA group were more satisfied with the resulting wound scar (P = 0.043). Conclusion: After stoma closure, CPA was associated with a significantly lower incidence of wound infection and greater patient satisfaction compared to PC. However, with the CPA technique, the time to heal is longer than it is with PC.
Kalman 필터와 딥러닝을 이용한 음성 복원 기법에 대한 제안

언어 번역, 음성 인식 등의 기술이 발전하면서 음성을 이용한 실시간 언어 번역, AI 음성 인식 시스템, 음악 인식 등의 기술이 생겨났다. 이 기술들은 입력되는 음성, 대사, 대화의 질에 대한 의존도가 높아서 주변 대화 소리, 기계 소음 등의 잡음이 있는 환경에서는 좋은 성능을 내기 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Kalman 필터와 딥러닝을 이용한 음성, 대사, 대화 복원 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 필터링을 통해 잡음을 최소화 하고, 손실 또는 왜곡된 음성을 복원하여 기술의 최대 성능을 낼 수 있게 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Base on Korean design code, previous design code had not considered the effect of pavement on the orthotropic steel deck, however recent design code (Limit State Design Method, 2012) allowed to consider the effect of pavement on the orthotropic steel deck, and efforts to apply the stiffness of pavement to the deck continue. Meanwhile, research on the effect of ultra thin bridge deck overlay on the orthotropic steel deck is inadequate, previous study was limited in about fatigue stress and performance between pavement layer and the orthotropic steel deck. In this study, according to changing of pavement layer stiffness application, pavement materials, pavement thickness and steel deck thickness, analysis of deflection. In addition to base on this result, consider effectiveness of ultra-thin pavement stiffness application on the orthotropic steel deck. 경제성장 및 물류증가로 인하여 장대교량에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 장지간을 가진 교량 건설을 위해서는 자중 감소가 필수적이며, 이를 위한 노력의 일환으로 초박층 포장재에 대한 연구 및 개발이 진행되고 있다. 국내 설계기준을 살펴보면, 이전 도로교설계기준(2010)에서는 포장이 가지는 강성을 강바닥판에 고려하지 않아 보수적인 설계가 이루어져 왔으나, 최근 개정된 설계기준인 도로교설계기준(2012, 한계상태설계법)에서는 일정한 조건 하 포장이 가지는 강성을 강바닥판에 반영하는 것을 허용하고 있다. 하지만 초박층 교면포장이 강바닥판에미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 미비한 실정이며, 진행된 연구 또한 거동 특성 및 피로응력에 대한 연구로 한정되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 포장강성의 반영/미반영, 교면 포장재료, 포장 두께 및 강바닥판 두께를 매개변수로 하여 이에 따른 강바닥판의 처짐과 전단응력의 변화 및 추세를 알아보고 또한 이를 바탕으로 강바닥판에 초박층 교면포장 강성 적용의 효율성을 알아보았다.
