There may be many factor attributable to mordernization process of Korea's mordernization. However opening up of the foreign trade from the traditional two door system, one to chin the other to Japan, should have given most vital influence to her peoples living as well as it's economy. Therefore the search for the roles of opening up of the national boundaries to the world specifically on to it's economic mordernization may by of meaning. Here, it is first attempted to define the begining of the mordernization in Korea, in so doing, brief examination of Korea's foreign trade during three periods traditional trade period chin-Japan conflicting periods, Semi-colonial trade period. Economic functioning the foreign trade in Korea are sought in three aspects, one how the introduction of western type of foreign trade is carried out, two, how the traditional economy has demolished and, three, how the modernization of the economy has emerged.

This thesis deals with flying without ever leaving the ground in Song of Solomon. Macon Dead who seeks white middle-class values based on the industrial North is a contrast to Pilate who represents the communal love of Southern agrarian roots. It is significant that Pilate, not his father, is Milkman's primary guide. Milkman, still under the influence of his father's idea, leaves for the South to look for gold. As a result of the trip, he is connected to the past of his ancestors. Through the hunt in the woods, the rite of initiation, he comes to accept communal life and realize the importance of human relations. Attaining rebirth into a new life, Milkman listens carefully to the children's entire song; he finally pieces together the story of his own past and discovers that he had and ancestor who could fly. Milkman puts his aunt's altruistic love into action. Achieving a final expansion of consciousness, he is changed into a dimension of liberation and transcendence, that is flight. Death dose not matter. It is Milkman who follows Pilate's altruistic love in that he embraces Guitar's violence by flying into Guitar's arms. This suggests the course black community should take. Finally, a consciousness of community is practiced in Song of Solomon.

The aim of this thesis is to study Emerson's view of poet. The poet is an Arch-Transcendentalist. He is a central man of Emerson's Transcendental fabric. Unlike the spirit of Christianity which is based on man's original sin and God's redeeming power, Emerson's Transcendentalism is based on man's divine nature as a particle of God. In Emerson's world God's spirit run through man and nature. In "The poet" Emerson ckefubes the ideal type of poet. He is not a mere thinker, nor a mere singer. Instead, he should be a genius and Man Thinking. The poet makes his reader feel the divine nature through him and nature. This feling and insight make man awaken from the material basis. The poet has Imagination and creates ideal vision with it. He exists not only for himself but for all man because he is a representative man. We can also conclude that Emerson himself tried to be such a poet-a spiritual leader, or prophet of his own time. Emerson implied the role of a poet as prophet. Emerson thought the poet should escape from his personality and achieve Universality in art. This does not mean that value of rhetoric alone would be the whole concerns expected to be mastered by Emerson's poet. Imagination, sincerity and moral depth-these primary concerns should go with them.
