In this study, we investigated the compatibilizing effect of poly(hydroxy ether of bisphenol A) (phenoxy) on the immiscible blends of polyamide 6 (PA6) and poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT). From scanning electron micrographs of PBT/PA6/phenoxy ternary blends, it was found that phenoxy forms encapsulating layer between PA6 and PBT during melt mixing. However, phenoxy does not contribute to reduce the domain size of dispersed phases, even though the encapsulating morphology results from the reduction in interfacial energy by spreading of phenoxy at the interface of PBT and PA6. The storage moduli of PBT/PA6/phenoxy blends slightly increase with phenoxy content below $T_g$ of phenoxy, but the situation is reversed above $T_g$ of phenoxy, indicating that the mechanical properties of polymer blends with encapsulating morphology depend on those of encapsulating polymers. Phenoxy added to PBT/PA6 blends does not significantly improve the tensile, bending, and impact properties of the blends, which calls into question the effectiveness of phenoxy as practical compatibilizers.

Integrated aircraft synthesis process for rapid analysis and design is described in this paper. Data flow between different analysis fields is described in details. All the data are divided into several groups according to importance and source of the data. Analysis of design requirements and certification regulations is carried out to determine baseline configuration of an aircraft. Overall design process can be divided into initial sizing, conceptual and preliminary design phases. Basic data for conceptual design are obtained from initial sizing, CAD and geometry analysis. Basic data are required input for weight, aerodynamics and propulsion analyses. Results of this analysis are used for stability and control, performance, mission, and load analysis. Feasibility of design is verified based on analysis results of each discipline. Design optimization that involves integrated process for aircraft analysis is performed to determine optimum configuration of an aircraft on a conceptual design stage. The process presented in this paper was verified to be used for light aircraft design.
환경규제대응을 위한 프탈레이트 가소제 인증표준물질(PP) 개발 연구

The Phthalates plasticizers (DBP, BBP and DEHP) are categorized and regluated as SVHC under EU REACH Regulation. Also European Commision was reviewing DEHP and BBP as restricted substances according to clause 6 of RoHS Directive. Responding to these international environmental restrictions, we developed PP certified reference material for determination of phthalate plasticizers such as DMP, DEP, DBP, BBP, DEHP and DnOP. The CRM is manufactured in powder forms by using PP substrate and 6 types of plasticizers in twin screw extruder and had confirmed it s homogeneity, short-term stability, and long-term stability using isotope dilution-gas chromatography/mass spectrometer (ID-GC/MS) analysis. The certified values were determined by using primary reference material (PRM) of KRISS for traceability. From now on, we will provide PP CRM to national and international companies and research institutes after certification as certified reference material and registering on COMAR (code of reference material).
