Vol.20 No.-
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of word reading for the children with language delay when environmental print instruction including a developmental level were used. For this purpose, 9 children with language delay were sampled. They were preschool students. The children were taught about word reading using environment print 12 times during 5 weeks. The procedure for this study was that considering the developmental level of environment print recognition, three steps were used. firstly, color pictures with visual cue were used and then black-and-white pictures without visual cue were used. Finally, letters without visual cue were used. The results were that when environment print instruction including a developmental level were used, children with language delay improved significantly in reading environment word from pretest to posttest, and the children improved significantly in reading words from pretest to posttest. Therefore, based on these results, it could be concluded that the children with language delay had an effect on word reading when environment print instruction including a developmental level were used. Also, this study suggest appropriate reading instruction for children with language delay who may be difficult to read words.
