가장 널리 알려지고 읽혀진 대표적인 방각본이 『춘향전』이다. 『춘향전』은 소설뿐 아니라 오늘날까지도 창극, 마당극, 영화 등으로 이어져 서로 이질적인 계층의 다양한 미의식을 반영하고 있으며 대중문화의 발전과 후기 문학에 많은 영향을 주어 문학적인 가치를 인정받고 있다. 京板의 경우 서울을 중심으로 사용 주체가 사대부나 여성들임을 볼 때 궁체의 영향을 받아 가늘고 섬세한 조형미를 이루고 있다. 그러나 서체 예술적 측면에서 일정한 정형성을 지니고 있어 창작성이 결핍되어 있다. 반면 『열여춘향슈졀가』를 비롯한 完板의 경우는 지역적인 특성으로 인하여 그 사용주체가 민간인 특히 농민 중심임을 감안할 때 민간 특유의 독창성과 창작성이 풍부하게 표현되어 그 예술적 가치가 높다고 볼 수 있다. 본 고의 연구과정에서 얻어진 『열여춘향슈졀가』의 특징들은 한글 서예의 다양한 書體 개발에 있어서 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 한다. 앞으로 궁체의 연구와 더불어 이러한 자료들에 대한 연구가 계속 이루어지길 바라며 한글 서예사의 발전에 기여할 것을 기대해 본다. Chunhyanggjeon is the representative Banggak book which was the most famous and widely read. It was remade into Changgeuk, Madanggeuk Korean Freeform Theater], Cinema, etc. Until now, Chunhyangjeon reflects the beauty of the different Classes of Korean Society and is admitted to have literary value, since it has greatly influenced the development of mass culture and later literature. Used by scholars or women, the editions of Gyeongpan [Seoul Edition] show thin and fine plastic beauty influenced by the Court Style, though they lack in creativity as they have definite standardization in terms of calligraphic art. On the contrary, the editions of Wanpan, including Yeolnyeo Chunhyang Syujyeolga, have high artistic value, as they are rich in typical farmer creativity that reflects folk culture. I hope that the above characteristics in Yeolnyeo Chunhyang Syujyeolga will help to develop a variety of Hangeul handwriting styles and that this research will encourage further intensive and extensive study, along with the Court Style.7
