The purpose of this study was to compare exercise program with biofeedback treatment, generally used treating for urinary stress incontinence, and to examine the effect of the exercise program on the change of stress urinary incontinence scale, maximal vaginal contraction pressure and maximal vaginal contraction duration of the stress urinary incontinence patients. There were 14 stress incontinence patients participated in this study. Seven patients were randomly selected as a test group who had exercised for 12 weeks, While the rest(7 patients) had been treated by the biofeedback. All 14 subjects had been measured maximal vaginal contraction pressure, maximal vaginal contraction duration and stress urinary incontinence scale using continence clinical at the beginning of this test and after 12weeks.The test group had been in the exercise program for 70 minutes per day over 12 weeks; in the mean time, the control group had been treated with the biofeedback electrical stimulation for 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week: over the 12 weeks. Any other type of treatment or exercise program was not performed during this period except for daily living activity.Two-way repeated ANOVA was performed for data analysis using SPSS Statistic Package ver. 10.0 (P <.05). The results of this study was summarized as follows;1. For maximal Vaginal Contraction Pressure, there was a significant differences detected between pre-and post-test in both groups but no differences detected between exercise program group and biofeedback treatment group.2 For maximal Vaginal Contraction Duration, there was no significant differences detected between pre-and post-test in each group but significant differences detected between ,exercise program and biofeedback treatment group.3. For stress urinary incontinece scale, was giant differences (p<. 05) detected between pre-and post-test in both groups but no differences detected between exercise program group and biofeedback treatment group. As shown in this study, the result of exercise program was similar to that of biofeedback treatment in terms of the stress urinary incontinence scale and maximal vaginal contraction pressure. In conclusion, it would be recommended that the stress incontinent patients could more actively participate in the exercise program since the exercise program was proved to be as effective as biofeedback treatment in treating the stress urinary incontinence.
