        A Study on the EFL Young Learners' Error Revision Processes in Written Instruction

        This research looks into the revision processes of young learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) through both pilot and experimental studies. The pilot study comparatively analyzed the error revision strategies in children and adult English learners; the variable relationship of the level of error correction and results of written works of young English learners in rst were used for data analysis. The results of the pilot study show that young EFL learners use a high percentage of revision strategies in terms of sentence and theme correction, whereas adult EFL learners have high rates of revision strategy use in terms of words and phrases. When using words and phrases, young English learners utilize a higher number of deletion and reordering strategies than the adult English learners while adult learners frequently substitute and add words and phrases as a means of error correction. As for the language rule-based approach to esponse to different forms of teacher revisions were compared and analyzed in the experimental study. The t-test, F-test and Duncan,s multiple comparison terevision, the results of the experimental study show no statistical significance in the variation of error correction and results of English written works of young EFL learners. Although the intentionality-based approach to revision did not give statistically meaningful results in terms of error correction of young English learners, the quantitative increase for high results of English written works show statistical significance. As teacher revisional activities based on student intentionality are more effective than language rule-based teacher corrective activities for young EFL learners, it needs to be said that some writing tasks in the English textbooks should be made with the intentionality-based approach to revision in mind.

        한국 성인 영어 학습자의 중간 언어에 나타난 연어 오류 연구

        This study was intended to investigate collocation errors in the interlanguage of Korean adult English learners in terms of grammatical and lexical collocation errors, create a collocation list around the topic given, and make suggestions on how to help them minimize collocation errors. 31 university students participated in the present research and they were asked to write an essay on self-introduction. The results show that most of the collocations produced by the participants were lexical (77.12%). The grammatical and lexical collocation errors amounted to 3.13% and 6.97% respectively. The grammatical ones were mainly related to the misuse or ellipsis of prepositions and the lexical ones were mostly related to the wrong selection of words, wrong arrangement of words, and morphologic errors. The participants’ essays were revised by a native English teacher and a small corpus was built and analyzed. Through these processes, a collocation list around the chosen topic was devised. In order to minimize collocation errors, teachers should encourage students to be involved in extensive reading of a lot of literature written in English and EFL learners should also be encouraged to make effective use of English dictionaries. Lastly, teachers should focus attention on some common collocations, which will help students to be precise in their language use.

        구성모델에 따른 연약지반 영역에서의 철도 노반 침하 특성

        This study, using the constitutive model of numerical analysis, quantitatively analyzed the settlement characteristics of railway roadbeds constructed on soft ground and presented the most appropriate constitutive model for clay conditions . The M.C. Model is a representative ground configuration model derived from the L.E. Model and can be used for carbon materials; the S.S.C. Model can simulate the creep compaction of materials and is suitable for soft ground. Soft ground settlement is caused by a combination of factors, including ground properties, grade, and groundwater level. Although each cause of subsidence has been studied through a single numerical model, there is still a lack of comparative analysis research for these numerical models under identical conditions. Therefore, this study analyzed the effects of the numerical model on the residual and instantaneous settlement characteristics of soft ground. As a result of the analysis, both the M.C. and S.S.C. models showed cases that exceeded the allowable residual settlement standard, but the M.C. model showed a tendency in which residual settlement did not increase even when train load was repeated. Therefore, the M.C. Model was used to analyze the behavior of sandy soil, and it is judged to be an inappropriate model for predicting soft ground.

        Corpus Evidence of the Features of Children's English Literature in an EFL Context

        This study aims at investigating the language used in children's English literature. Two small corpora were created referring to the BNC corpus. In order to collect and analyze the data, WordSmith 3.0, kfNGram and CLAWS tagset programs were used. The results reveal that: (1) there is a higher degree of nominalization in a corpus of imaginative fiction written for Korean children (hereafter, "IFKC"), (2) the IFKC offered much more reference to people and things, (3) the IFKC texts contains fantasy, while the imaginative fiction written for an adult audience (hereafter, "IFAA") texts are more realistic and sophistical, (4) the two fiction corpora portray the lexical verbs used in the key processes of a narrative, (5) The adjectives in the two fiction corpora reveal the typical characteristics of narrative, (6) the two fiction corpora to contain N-grams denotes times and places where narrative events unfold, and locations and flows of events, (7) the IFKC represents the 'I'-centered world view (8). Most examples in the IFKC, 'in time' indicates a deadline or the completion of an action. In sum, the dialogues in the elementary school English textbooks in Korea must be reconstructed by actively and positively adopting the strengths of children's literature, which reflects the feelings and emotions of children.

      • 고정자 치 끝 형상에 따른 IPMSM과 CP type IPMSM의 특성 비교

        매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM)은 고 에너지 밀도를 가지며 응용분야가 넓어지고 있다. 희토류 자석의 공급의 불안정으로 인해 가격 상승의 여파로 인해 영구자석 사용을 저감하는 여러 연구들이 활발히 진행되어왔다. 그 중 회전가 자석 쌍극 중 한 극만 사용하고, 자석을 철심으로 대체하는 Consequent Pole(CP) type IPMSM을 제안한다. CP type IPMSM의 자기적 불평형으로 인해 토크리플을 저감하기 위해 고정자 형상 설계를 제안한다. 우선적으로 일반적인 IPMSM에 적용하여 결과를 비교한다. 그리고 이 제안된 고정자 형상 설계를 동일하게 CP type IPMSM에 적용하였을 때의 현상을 고찰한다.
