Characterization of exfoliated MoS<sub>2</sub>

Molybdenum disulfide(MoS<sub>2</sub>) is a layered filler that is widely used in polymer composite materials because it has high mechanical and heat resistance as well as excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. S-Mo-S of MoS<sub>2</sub> has strong covalent bonds and relatively weak van der waals forces between layers. Therefore, the material having such a layered structure can be separated into a single layer or multiple layers through various methods, and exhibits unique characteristics according to dimensional control. In this study, the intercalation method was used to exfoliate bulk MoS<sub>2</sub> and to determine the properties of the two-dimensional materials depending on the number of atomic layers. TEM and Raman spectroscopy were used to confirm the exfoliation of MoS<sub>2</sub>. Specimens will be manufactured through polymer matrix and compounding to analyze contact angle (CA), TGA, UTM, and to study the characteristics of composites.
