In faculty members, they have a professor per 10 students in the average, which outnumber the case of Korea. 3. In research enviroments, they much more materials, facilities and equipments for research in comparison with those of Korea, and the government or the school foundations also support much fund for the development of research environments. 4. In research activities, they show vigorousness and produce many actual results. But the research methologies seem to remain in more conservative trends rather than in trying to develop science through introducing new theories.

Buddhism is a religion that adopted from the foreign culture by ancient Korean peoples. In this thesis, I made the real pact of adoption clear through the analysis of literary works, sought the literary development of them, and appraised their literary values. The works as text are Wunwangsaengga<=W>, Jeimangmaega<=J>, Kuunmong<=K> and Manboksa-jupogi<=M>(The first two are Hyangga and the rest old novel) The results of this analysis roughly as follow; 1. In Hyangga, the two works have Wangsaeng-sasang(the thought that have desire to future life in Buddhism) as their background of idea. But the former consist of ideal characteristic, while the latter realistic one. The latter is superior to the former in the literary value. 2. <W> have an outlook on the world that deny any of the value in this world, and have a passimistic view of life. <J> have an outlook on the world that acknowledge the value of this world, and in concequence, the tragic emotion. 3. <W> adopted the fixed idea of Buddhism, while <J> change the Buddhism in quality according to his own will. 4. In the old novels, <K> seems to be similar with <W> in their characteristic. <M> seems to be similar with <J>. But the characteristic of them were changed as follows; <K> made a step foward more intellectual and were epistemological tendency than <W>. In<M>, the contrast between the desire of life in this world, the faith in future world is deeper than <J>, and that faith was already very weakend. The change of the two tendency seems chiefly to be caused by the social and cultural circumstances in that times.

The ultimate purpose of this thesis is to clarify the social function of literary works through the analysis of some old Korean novels. The range of works that would be analyze was limited to works related with family problems. More concretly speeking, here was analyzed the conflict of family members in some works. The selected works were Sahssi-Namjung-Gi, Jung-Suhjungl-Jun, Janghwa-Hongyunjun, and Suhgyung-Nangja-Jun. The results of analysis are follows; Ⅰ. The first two works that have horizontal conflict reflect the home tragic affairs in that times (Ih-Dynasty). Therefore, they do not show the defect of family system that brought about those affairs. Because the fixed idea of their authers, namely Confucian moral sense, paralyzed their intelligence and restricted their imaginations. Ⅱ. The last two works that have vertical one reflect the real state of that society. Janghwa-Hongyun-Jun exposed the father's(the master of a family) incompetency as well as the stepmother's evil intention at home in aristocratic circles. The father's incompetency means a frailty of peoples in high class, and that is a negative element ought to be eliminate. Suhgyung-Nangja-Jun reflects a conflict between the versical order and horizontal one in the family system. Here, the former is challenged by the latter. The vertical order is the relation between father and his son, or resemble one, in their home. And horizontal one the intetion of combination between hausbend and his wife. In other words, parental authority and dignity is collaps on account of ostinacy in front of their son and daughter-in-law. This is invisible and important change of family conciousness in history.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of SoSikCheongWool-Tang on white rats' hepatocyte damages induced by Radix Aconitine. For the study, Radix Aconitine was administered to white rats, damaging their hepatocytes, and then SoSikCheongWool-Tang was given to the rats. As a result, the following histological changes of the hepatocytes were observed through light and electron microscope: 1. Radix Aconitine damaged the congestion, necrosis and hemolysis in the liver. 2. In the six-hour control group, the cisternae of rough and smooth endoplasmic reticula were dilated or disoriented, and the attached ribosomes of rough endoplasmic reticulum were hardly observed. 3. In the three-day control group, the destruction of the nucleus as well as the damage of all the cell-organelles was observed. 4. In all the experiment groups, the rats, after given SoSikCheongWool-Tang, quickly recovered from the cytotoxicity induced by aconitine extracts. From the above results, this study has come to the conclusion that SoSikCheongWool-Tang is efficacious against the cytotoxicity induced by Radix Aconitine.
