      • Facile Fabrication of Stimuli-responsive Nanoparticles for Peptide Delivery

        Stimuli-responsive nanocarriers have been extensively studied to enhance controlled molecular delivery. To this end, hydrogels have considered to be promising since they can store various cargos with minimizing the loss of activity. Here, we present the stimuli-responsive collagen-based nanoparticles (CNPs) via facile radical polymerization. CNPs are composed of biocompatible fish-derived collagen and thermo-sensitive polymers (i.e., N-isopropylacrylamide) to fabricate thermo-responsive nanoparticles. By adding gold precursor ions in a synthetic solution, hybrid nanoparticles integrated with light-responsive gold nanoparticles are easily obtained. Physicochemical properties including morphology and degree of integration between the building components are tuned to optimize the stimuli-responsive hybrid nanoparticles. The peptide loading efficiency of synthesized nanoparticles are calculated and stimuli-responsive release are investigated. Finally, we show that effective cellular delivery is achieved in presence of light- or thermo-stimuli without any cytotoxic issue. Collectively, we expect that the proposed hybrid nanoparticles would be beneficial in performing controlled peptide delivery.

        Redox/pH-dual responsive functional hollow silica nanoparticles for hyaluronic acid-guided drug delivery

        Stimuli-responsive nanocarriers have been studied for controlling release kinetics while minimizing theundesired leakage of loaded molecules. Hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles (HMSNs) have been usedas carriers because of their biocompatibility, porosity, high surface area, and ease of chemical modification. Moreover, introducing targeting moieties onto the HMSNs enables targeted delivery to designatedsites. Here, we designed dual-responsive HMSNs capped with various molecular weights of hyaluronicacid (HA) to control the drug loading quantity and enhance the targeting efficiency. The dualresponsiveHMSNs were synthesized via sequential surface grafting processes, which include thiolgroups, amine groups, and capping agents (denoted as HMSN-SH, HMSN-SS-NH2, and HMSN-SS-HA,respectively). The modified HMSNs were further functionalized with HA to increase the cancertargetingefficiency for CD44-rich cancer cells. This functionalized HMSN showed 1.2–2.3 times increaseddrug release efficiency under redox/pH-dual stimuli compared to each stimulus. As a result, the HMSNswere internalized by cancer cells rather than normal cells; consequently, more drugs were delivered tocancer cells. We suggest that the proposed HMSN-SS-HA would be a suitable carrier for enhancing drugdelivery efficiency with targeting/stimuli-responsive functionalities.

        Suboptimal control status of young hypertensive population

        The prevalence of hypertension (HT) among young adults aged 18 to 39 years is estimated to be 3.7% to 8.6% worldwide. Although the prevalence of HT in young adults is lower than that of the overall population, those with HT are at substantially increased risk of cardiovascular events compared to those without HT. HT in young adults should be taken with even more caution as longer exposure to higher blood pressure leads to a higher lifetime risk of HT-mediated organ damage. However, young patients with HT show low awareness of HT compared to older patients. Also, they are more prone to show low treatment adherence despite the good efficacy of the treatment. Other risk factors that hinder HT control among young adults include alcohol intake, smoking, low physical activity, emotional stress, job stress, metabolic syndrome, and obesity. This review aimed to illustrate the suboptimal control status of the young hypertensive population and to propose strategies for improvement.

        서사무가 속의 울음에 깃든 공감과 치유의 미학

        이 논문에서는 서사무가 속의 울음과 눈물에 얽힌 의미를 공감과 치유를 축으로 하여 살펴보았다. 한국의 서사무가에는 주인공이 서럽게 눈물을 쏟아내는 장면이 무척 많이 나온다. 이는 신화가 본질적으로 공감과 치유를 지향하는 문학양식이라는 것과 깊은 관련이 있다. 여러 서사무가 가운데 〈원천강본풀이〉와 〈바리데기〉, 〈세경본풀이〉 등을 통해 울음의 성격을 단면적으로 살펴본 결과 그것이 굿의 본질적 기능과 깊은 연관을 지님을 확인할 수 있었다. 서사무가 속의 울음은 마음 깊은 곳의 슬픔과 원한을 토로하고 풀어내는 표출의 울음이고, 존재와 존재를 밑바닥에서 이어주는 화해의 울음이며, 고통과 절망을 딛고 다시 일어나 나아가도록 하는 갱신의 울음이다. 그것은 신화적 신성 체험의 한 부분을 이루는 가운데 굿이 추구하는 풀이와 치유의 효과를 극대화한다. 서사무가 속의 울음이 지니는 문학적․의례적 기능과 관련하여 함경도 망묵굿 무가 〈도랑선비 청정각시〉의 작품론적 분석을 통해 그 의미맥락을 집중 분석하였다. 첫날밤을 치르지도 못한 채 남편을 잃고서 하염없이 통곡하는 청정각시는 ‘세상에서 가장 슬픈 사람’으로서 그녀가 쏟아내는 울음은 세상 사람들의 수많은 고통과 한을 대리 표출하는 역할을 한다. 사별과 같은 큰 아픔과 고통을 겪고 있는 사람들은 이야기속의 청정각시와 정서적으로 일체가 되어 함께 울음을 우는 가운데 가슴속 슬픔을 표출하고 또 해소하게 된다. 이야기는 슬픔의 극점에 청정각시의 죽음을 배치하는바 그 죽음은 사별의 고통을 이겨내고 거듭나기 위한 ‘의례적 죽음’이라고 할 수 있다. 사람들은 그 자신 청정각시가 되어 죽음을 체험하는 가운데 그로부터 벗어나게 된다는 것이다. 고통의 극한에서 극복의 길을 찾는 역설적인 치유의 미학이다. This study examined the meaning of crying in Korean shamanistic epics in the context of sympathy and healing. There are a lot of scenes in which the main character sadly burst into tears in Korean shamanistic epics. As a result of research through important materials, the crying is deeply associated with the essential function of shamanistic ritual (gut). It is crying of expression that gives vent to one’s deep sadness and grudge, crying for reconciliation that connects one being with another being at the bottom and crying for resuscitation that makes one to stand up again, stepping on one’s pain and despair. That maximizes the healing effect pursued by Gut forming a part of a mythic sacred experience. Shamanistic epic in the Hamgyeong-do, “Dorang-seonbi Cheongjeong-gaksi” is a work in which the mythic meaning of crying is dramatically embodied. Cheongjeong-gaksi, who vacantly wailed, losing her husband on her wedding night is ‘the saddest person in the world,’ and her crying has a meaning of replacing the pain and resentment of the people in the world. The people that face the pain of bereavement cry sadly, becoming united with Cheongjeong-gaksi and express naturally and get rid of sadness in the heart. The story assigns Cheongjeong-gaksi’s death at the summit of sorrow, which is a ‘ritual death’ for free from the pain of bereavement. This is paradoxical aesthetics of healing that finds a way of overcoming an extreme pain. The expression of sorrow through narrative shamanistic songs is structured and continuous. It has typicality and universality that can move everyone’s mind. Crying is like spring water of healing which we can dig up from ourselves at any time. This applies to modern people as well as those who have engaged in shamanistic ritual.

      • Effects of the Incidence Angle and Temperature on the Performance of a Thin-Film CIGS Solar Cell for Solar Powered UAVs

        This research aims to study the effects of the incidence angle and surface temperature on the power generation performance of a thin-film CIGS solar cell for solar powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The test rig consists of a unit CIGS solar cell is installed on a table whose angle is controlled manually. A K-type thermocouple is attached to the solar cell surface for temperature measurements. A solar module analyzer measures the voltage and current generated from the test solar cell. The solar module analyzer also calculates the maximum solar power and efficiency of the solar cell. All test data are acquired in a PC. Test results show that the solar cell efficiency decreases significantly with increasing incidence angle and increasing surface temperature in general. As the incidence angle increases from 0 degree to 90 degree, the solar cell efficiency decreases by 60%. The solar cell efficiency decreases by 10% with increasing solar cell surface temperature from 20?C to 30?C, for exmaple. The direct cooling method of the solar cell using dry ice decreases dramatically the solar cell surface temperature, thus increasing the solar cell efficiency by 15%.

        구술소통능력과 구비문학-설화의 인지체계와 의미구조를 중심으로-

        In oral communication, affective and figurative aspects are as important as intellectual and logical aspects. Indeed, in everyday oral activities, the figurative aspect takes on greater significance. Oral literature may be regarded as the purification of oral language. For example, folktales have unique characteristics in terms of form and meaning. They unfold fictional imagination, free from the need to conform to reality. The language is dynamic, conveying aesthetic and psychological satisfaction and a sense of freedom. Such tales effectively reflect the truth of human life, becoming stamped on one`s memory with a strong impression. In folktales, the unique motifs form systematic and coherent narrative structures, comprising both syntagmatic and paradigmatic aspects, which is optimized for effective communication. Such oral literature plays an important role in the development of oracy, expanding the scope of imagination and requiring cognitive processing. The production and reception of such tales reflects the process of ``cognition - expression - communication``, allowing one to develop intellectually and emotionally, and expanding human relations. To encourage the development of oral communicative ability, oral literature ought to be utilized.

        High-frequency characterization for SAW interdigital transducers

        A new technique to accurately determine transmission line (TL) network parameters of surface acoustic wave (SAW) interdigital transducers (IDTs) is presented. Various test IDTs and radio frequency (RF) flters for experimental characterizations are designed and fabricated on a LiTaO3 piezoelectric material. S-parameters for test devices were measured in the broad frequency bands of 50 MHz to 6 GHz. Then decoupling the acoustic waves from electromagnetic waves with an electromechanical coupling coefcient (k2), accurate TL circuit model parameters for SAW devices are determined. The acoustic wave model parameters are determined in an iterative manner by combining the measured S-parameters with a physical model. We show that SAW-based RF flters that operate at the frequency higher than 1 GHz can be very accurately designed using the proposed technique.
