This study examined whether the impact of adult attachment anxiety on interpersonal competence has unconditional self-acceptance mediating effects for college students, and controlled medium model analysis was conducted to check whether post-event rumination has a controlled mediating effect for controlling such mediating effects. A total of 370 college students completed the following questionnaire to participate in this study: K-ICQ(Korean Version of the Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire), ECRR-K(The Korea version of Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised), USAQ-R(Revised Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire), PRQ(Post-event Rumination Questionaire). The results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that unconditional self-acceptance completely mediated the relationship of adult attachment anxiety and interpersonal competence. Second, it was found that post-event rumination had a moderating effect on adult attachment anxiety and interpersonal competence. Lastly, post-event rumination displayed moderated mediating effects when adult attachment anxiety had an impact on interpersonal competence through unconditional self-acceptance. Based on such results, the meaning of this study, consultative implications, limitations, and proposals for follow-up studies were discussed.
