순서형 프로빗 모형을 활용한 교통사고 심각도에 관한 연구 : 고속도로 확장공사 구간을 대상으로
기존 차로에 연접하여 장기간 진행하게 되는 고속도로 확장공사는 일상적인 유지보수 위주의 단기 공사보다 더욱 위험성이 높아 보다 체계적이고 합리적인 공사구간 안전관리가 요구된다. 본 연구는 2007년부터 2016년까지 고속도로에서 발생한 교통사고 데이터를 활용하여 확장공사구간에서 발생하는 교통사고의 심각도를 분석하고 안전성 향상 방안을 제안하는 것이 목적이다. 확장공사로 인한 교통사고 심각도를 비교·분석하기 위해 서해안선 안산-일직 구간과 경부선 언양-영천 구간을 대상으로 공사 시행 전과 시행 후에 대한 순서형 프로빗 모델을 구축하였다. 분석 결과, 두 구간 모두 확장공사를 시행하기 전에는 환경적인 요소로 인하여 사고 심각도가 증가하는 경향을 띈 반면 확장공사 시작 후에는 기하구조와 방책시설로 인하여 사고 심각도가 높아지는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 확장공사로 인하여 열악해지는 기하구조를 운전자가 인지하지 못하여 발생하는 사고에 기인하는 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 동일 기간, 동일 구간에서 확장공사 시행 유무에 따른 교통사고 심각도에 영향을 끼치는 주요인을 비교·분석한 것에 의의가 있으며, 연구의 결과는 고속도로 공사구간에서 효과적인 안전관리계획 수립 및 시행을 위한 근거 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. The highway widening project which is bordering the existing lane for a longer period is more dangerous than the short-term construction which mainly focuses on the maintenance. Therefore, more systematic and effective safety management of the construction site is required. The purpose of this study is to analyze the severity of traffic accidents occurring in the widening construction area using the traffic accident data that occurred on the Korean expressway from 2007 to 2016 and to suggest a safety improvement plan. In order to compare and analyze the severity of traffic accidents caused by the road widening work, we constructed an ordered probit models for the Ansan - Iljik section in the Seohaean line and Eonyang - Yeongcheon section in the Gyeongbu line before and during the construction, respectively. As a result, it is analyzed that the accident severity is increased due to the environmental factor before the widening work is performed in both sections. However, during the construction, the accident severity is increased due to the geometry and the barrier facility. It is considered that this is caused by an accident that occurs because the driver does not recognize the geometry which is deteriorated due to the widening work. In this study, it is important to compare and analyze the main factors influencing the severity of traffic accidents according to whether or not the road widening work was carried out in the same period. The result of this study is expected to be used as a basis for establishing and implementing an effective safety management plan in the highway construction area.
