        A Narrative Inquiry into Arab Students’ Adaption of Studies and Acculturation in Korea. Park, Minil Dept. of Global Korean Studies Graduate School of Culture Creation Kyung Hee Cyber University This study aimed at examining the experience of studying Korean language and Korean culture among Arab students studying in Korea and their acculturation, and thereby exploring the direction of support for and education of the students to help them. In chapter 1, the purposes, methods and procedures of the study are briefly described. Furthermore, by reviewing prior researches related to adaptation in study and acculturation exploration of foreign student learners, This research confirms the starting point of the discussion and review the prior study of Korean learners who are Arabic native speakers to reveal the necessity and justification of narrative exploration. In chapter 2, the main idea which composes the theoretical background of this study and methodology was examined. To begin with, self-identity, expressive writing and relevant theories were explored. After that, the concept and procedure of narrative inquiry, one of several methods used in a qualitative research, were discussed. In chapter 3, the procedure and participants of this study, the data collection method and the data analysis method were explained. This research established its procedure based on the narrative inquiry procedure in five stages by Clandinin & Connelly(2000). The participants are seven Arab region students. In-depth interviews with them were carried out for about two months from August to September 2020, and the recordings of the interviews were transcribed. This material was analyzed following the analysis process of the first coding and the second coding(categorization). In chapter 4, the results from the analysis which was conducted according to the research method presented in chapter 3 were described. The transcribed material acquired from interviews with all the participants were classified under 20 categories and 69 codes. This research examined in detail the actual experiences of the participants here according to each theme and the categories under it and interpreted the meanings of such experiences. Furthermore, based on the cultural difficulties Arab region students faced, several suggestions were made. This study is significant in that it focused on Arab region students studying in Korea, who were seldom discussed in studies on foreign students in the nation, and examined in detail the difficulties they have faced in Korea and their acculturation. The results from the study can be used as a basic material for the development of a support program and education plan for Arab region students studying in Korea.
