This study is about the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the ethanol and methanol from leaf extract of Camellia sinensis. Pu'er tea, Black tea, Ceylon tea, Tieguanyin, Huangshan tea, used in the experiment was to purchase in China, and extracted by dipping 4 weeks of methanol and ethanol. Nitrite scavenging ability, total polyphenol and flavonoid content were the highest at methanol extracts while conversely lowest ethanol extracts from leaf of Camellia sinensis. The biological activities of water extracts from different leaf of Camellia sinensis were investigated. The concentrations of total phenolic and flavonoid in leaf extract where highest. DPPH radical elimination showed positive reaction to leaf extract of Camellia sinensis the methanol solution extract showed much better antioxidant than the ethanol solution extract There results in indicated at leaf extract of Camellia sinensis might be an effective antioxidative activity. Antimicrobial activities were determined by paper disc method and minimum inhibitory concentration of Camellia sinensis extracts. The growth inhibition curves of Camellia sinensis extracts against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus Aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium ammoniagenes, Escherichia coli were also determined. These results suggest that the methanol and ethanol treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus Aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium ammoniagenes and Escherichia coli has strong antimicrobial activity against the all species of microorganisms as well as strong antioxidant activity.
